Terms of Service

The short version: You own the covers you generate. Bring your own artwork and the files we build from it — ebook cover, paperback wrap, print checks — are free and unwatermarked on every plan, because we did not draw the picture. Previews of covers our AI generated are watermarked and are for evaluation only — you can share them as they are, but not sell with them. Download a cover after using a paid AI Generation and you get the clean high-resolution file plus commercial use anywhere (KDP, Apple Books, Kobo, IngramSpark), worldwide, royalty-free, no attribution. We never train AI on your titles, briefs, or covers, and we never resell or showcase your covers as our own. MakeMyBookCover is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — nothing auto-renews.

1. Service

MakeMyBookCover generates AI book cover images from the title, author name, and creative brief you submit. Covers are produced via third-party AI models (currently FAL.ai and KIE.ai gpt-image-2). You are responsible for ensuring the metadata and any uploaded images you provide are yours to use.

2. You own your covers

As between you and MakeMyBookCover, you retain ownership of the title, author name, brief, and any image you submit (“Input”), and you own the cover images generated for you (“Output”). We hereby assign to you all right, title, and interest we may have in the Output.

Your own artwork. When you upload your own illustration and we set type over it without repainting it, the picture is still yours and there is nothing here for us to assign — we did not make it. We do not watermark the files built that way and we do not put them behind a plan: the ebook cover, the paperback wrap and the print checks are free on every account, and you may use them for any lawful purpose, commercial use included. Fitting a picture to the shape of a book means cropping, scaling and re-encoding it, which you choose and preview before anything is built. You are responsible for holding the rights to whatever you upload and for the text you set on it.

Free AI previews. A cover generated with a free AI Generation is delivered as a watermarked, downscaled preview. It is licensed to you for personal evaluation and for sharing in that delivered, watermarked form — posting it while teasing your book is fine. It carries no commercial-use rights, and we do not supply a clean file for it. This paragraph is about covers our AI made; it does not apply to the files described above, built from artwork you supplied. (The watermark is what makes it unpublishable — it is not a resolution limit.)

Paid downloads. When you download a cover created with a paid AI Generation you receive the clean, un-watermarked high-resolution file, and that cover may be used for any lawful purpose, including commercial use — print and ebook covers on Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Kobo, IngramSpark, marketing for that book, and your author portfolio — worldwide, royalty-free, with no attribution required.

Disclaimer: due to the nature of AI, Output may not be unique, and other users may receive similar Output. We do not warrant the originality, copyrightability, or non-infringement of any Output, and make no representation that AI-generated images are eligible for copyright registration in any jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for reviewing your final cover (rights clearance, brand safety, retailer rules) before commercial use.

3. Your content & AI training

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and store your Input and Output solely to operate, secure, and provide the service to you. We do not sell your covers, display them publicly as our own, or use your titles, briefs, or generated covers to train AI models.

4. Pricing & AI Generations

MakeMyBookCover is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. AI Generation packs (Basic and Pro) are charged once via Stripe; we do not store your card data. Each successful new AI visual result uses one AI Generation; failures and attempts with no usable result do not. Text and typography refinements, exports, and Full Wrap formatting use none. Matching AI Back uses one when a new result succeeds. Paid AI Generations expire 12 months after purchase; new accounts receive 3 free AI Generations valid for 7 days. There is nothing to cancel and you are never automatically charged again.

5. Acceptable use

  • No covers depicting real public figures without consent
  • No CSAM or otherwise illegal content
  • No reverse-engineering, scraping, or abusing the service
  • No use that violates our AI, payment, or storage providers' terms

6. Publishing & KDP

We are not responsible or liable if a generated cover is rejected by Amazon KDP or any retailer or printer for any reason. You are the publisher and are solely responsible for compliance with each platform's content, metadata, and trim-size rules.

7. Refunds

See our Refund Policy. Short version: 7-day goodwill guarantee on your first paid pack, refunded minus AI Generations already spent. Email support@makemybookcover.com.

8. Liability

The service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim, or USD 50. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

9. Governing law & operator

This service is operated by NexusGrowth, LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, and the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
